General Information
Who is eligible?
Anyone who is part of our target group can get a computer (desktop or laptop) computer from TADWA.
Computers at reduced cost (via subsidies) may be available to people with disabilities, the frail aged and carers throughout Western Australia, pending the results of an eligibility assessment.
How does the service work?
The first thing you need to do is ask (apply) for a computer system. Any customer requests are reviewed as to their priority and need. We also try very hard to match a computer to your needs as detailed in the application. For example, if you want internet access or a particularly good games computer or a computer for Computer Aided Design.
We can also provide you with a support agreement on your existing system (subject to a technical assessment). This is often important if your manufacturers warranty has expired and you want to keep your system working well.
Computers we supply to eligible people with disabilities, the frail aged and those who care for them, come free of charge for all used components and customers are asked to enter into a 1 or 2 year support agreement (desktop / tower) and 1 year support agreement (laptop) with TADWA.
This agreement provides a full warranty for all used components. Customers also have access to our Help Desk for support purposes and we will rectify Operating System problems and assist with other issues such as virus and spyware removal at no charge to the customer. TADWA also offers basic computer skills training as part of the agreement. Such training can be by way of classroom training at Bassendean, in-home training where we have suitable volunteers available, or by selected online training material. The overall aim is to make these computers available at a minimum cost and in good working condition throughout the term of the service agreement.
See our application and information forms to find out current prices. We can allow you to pay the computer off either via money order, cheque, credit card, EFTPOS or electronic funds transfer. We can also make arrangements for payments to be made direct from your Centrelink allowance (via CentrePay). Minimum payments can be as little as $25 per fortnight, but if the total amount is over a certain limit we do reserve the right to ask for a deposit. Once your system is paid for YOU OWN IT.
Is it just refurbished computers?
NO, from time to time we get bulk orders of new laptops for major suppliers which we can then offer to you as our customer. Again we are always looking to keep costs down and still provide reliable and efficient computers. New laptops to eligible customers are still covered by our TADWA support agreement and also have manufacturer's warranties.
How to apply?
People who are eligible and wishing to obtain a computer through the scheme are required to complete a Computer Service Agreement Application form and send it to TADWA for processing. Application forms are available by contacting TADWA or can be downloaded and printed by going to
Forms section of this website. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to view this document.
Applicants must provide us with as much detail as possible in order to speed up the approval process and to ensure that we supply a system that at least matches the minimum requirements for each request.
