Brain:Body Pain Solutions
Brain:Body Pain Solutions is a new TADWA service that aims to help people deal with chronic pain.
Pain can affect anyone, and the symptoms of pain can interfere with all aspects of life. Statistics show one in five Australians suffer from chronic pain, making it a massive social and economic issue.
But there is emerging hope in the form of a better understanding of the causes of chronic pain and new intervention technologies, including Virtual Reality.
Brain:Body Pain Solutions is a WA first, blending occupational therapy with technology to help break the pain cycle.
How do we do this?
Specifically, we use moderation of your pain symptoms, pain education and strategies to help you improve your coping skills. We call this process Relieve, Refocus and Restore.
Relieve: To moderate your pain symptoms, we use a wide range of sensory techniques which may include working with all of your senses (vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch). We use traditional techniques as well as new evidence-based techniques like Virtual Reality.
Refocus: We provide pain education to help you understand the connection between your body and brain. Becoming aware that pain is an output of your brain, you will learn that you have the ability to retrain your brain.
Restore: Whether you practice pacing yourself or knowing when to seek help, our goal is to restore your ability to reconnect with what is important to you, things you enjoy and people you enjoy doing them with.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 8.00am – 4.00pm.
Initial Consultation and Assessment: $198
Standard Consultation (30 minutes): $88 including GST
Extended Consultation (60 minutes): $154 including GST
